Going on a day hike up in a town a couple hours away from here so won't be on until late tomorrow; that is if I get on the computer at all.

double post edit:

Well, I'm came back from a 6 hour a hike yesterday. It was fun. It rained on us a bit, and one instance it hailed on us. Unfortunately, after the hike I got a burning headache, but now I'm fine. It was also really nice to get out of this miserable heat.

Awwww!!! My legs hurst like a *****!!!! I went back down the Grand Canyon for some crazy reason.:p This time we went down a different trail, which was a lot harder. We also had to go down all the way in one day. It was worth it though. We stayed down at the river. Unfortunately there were no toilets or tables. It was completely primitive. We were lucky enough to see some rafters the next morning and we watched them go through the rapids. It looks freaky. Then we went to a different camp site and stayed the night. At least that camp site had toilets, if you could call them that. We hicked out today and it took us 8 hours to walk 8.8 miles; all uphill. The last two hours were the hardest. It was really steep and the trail wasn't in good condition. I laugh at people we met at the bottom of that stretch because half of them didn't even know what they were getting themselves into by going down so far. When your down that far with no water it wouldn't be pleasent to walk all the way back up. After that we drove for 4 hours back home and now I'm here and took a nice long shower.:) But my legs still hurt like they were shoved into a grinder and sowed back on to my body.

"Now it's time to say goodnight to you,
Now it's time to bid you sweet adieu."- Home Tonight, Aerosmith, from the album Rocks.

Well, I know I've said this before(apart for the singing thing up there), but...

Now I really mean it. I have to bugger off and buckle down. I'm going to archive all my Hotmail e-mail in Gmail, then delete them from Hotmail. I've switched off E-Mail Notification for all threads here.

Now I'm just looking at CAD and VGCats for the last time in a bit.

And NO-ONE say "You'll be back" or "You'll NEVER leave!", cause I know all that. Which is why I'm only leaving till... well... look at my sig.

Adios!

So when KamBan leaves for a few months, nobody even bothers to say goodbye but when Ben leaves for a couple of weeks, it's all "Oh, don't go!"

You people disgust me.

And I know it's belated but Good luck KB and don't forget to come back!

[Btw, the "You people disgust me" thing was just me messing around, before I get loads of comments asking me to calm down. I do think it's a bit rude, that's all]

SargeMcCluck
24 Jan 2005, 12:49
I didn't comment to KB because he's been very inactive lately anyway, and he also will definitely not be on until a certain date so there's no point me saying "Have a good time while you're gone!" when he's already gone and won't read the message until he's back, and by then the time will already have been had so my statement will be redundant.

Ben didn't say he was going to right there and then lose his 'net connection however. He's just not going to be online much. He will be online though. Or something.

It's obviously not just because I rarely view this thread and I didn't see KB's post. Obviously. :x

You know, they're just leaving the forum. It's not as if they're departing to an unknown place for an uncertain amount of time. The Worms community is like the Borg, always there in the background, and if you come back to it later it's as if you never left. These forums alone aren't the community, just places where communion tends to be busiest.

Well the enthalpy change of formation seems to be negative, therefore it must be exothermic. Then again, one of the steps in the indirect route could be endothermic.

Most of Russia is probably cool, but downtown Moscow and Primorsko-Akhtarsk are definitely not!

Downtown Moscow seems like New York rush-hour, but all the time! Primorsko Akhtarsk. . . let's just say that you can forget about the word "technology" when you're down there. There's a pretty damn nice beach there though, but that's all the place is good for.

Krasnodar, which is 3 hours of driving south-east of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, sounds like an interesting place. It's a small city where the closest airport is every time I go to Primorsko-Akhtarsk. I haven't been around in Krasnodar though. It's always PLANE LAND-AGE, then OUT OF PLANE WALK-AGE, followed by OUT OF KRASNODAR DRIVE-AGE.

I have also yet to see the Kreml, as I never have enough time in Moscow.

Another thing about Moscow: the subway (or whatever's there, I forget) is S**TE! I shouldn't even have to explain why, just take my word for it: it's a living hell!

Also, I'm leaving in about 6 hours. Whoop!

There's actually a time between Tuesday and Wednesday? I thought the instant Tuesday ended Wednesday started.

What is this elusive time period seperating the two days called? Twonesday? ;)

I'd actually be in favour of a Warning system (vB3.5.x has it I think, as I've seen it on other forums), where the mods/user mods give a user 'warning points' when they break rules.

After x warning points, they get automatically put on 'Being Watched' for, say, a month.

Then, after x+y warning points, they're banned for a week or so.

Then, after x+y+0.5z warning points, they're permanently banned.

But, that discussion isn't really for this thread ;)

People come in to my place of work all the time with router problems. Right now there seems to be a bunch of faulty power supplies bundled with Belkin gateways. It's made by a company named DVE and outputs 12VDC, 1.25A. I haven't heard of many Voyagers going faulty. Finally a reply... "From the information you have provided it seems that your PC has a conflict with an ip address already assigned by the router, i.e. two PCs are using the same ip address. You should check the network connection properties in Windows Control Panel and ensure that your PC does not have an "assigned" ip address, i.e. it is set to automatically receive an ip address from the router."

Why the hell don't they make hardware that actually gives each computer a new IP address? It's happened on every computer I've tried to install this thing on. Surely it can't be too difficult to do that? Why can't people in this day and age make technology that just works after you install it? I feel I have no choice but to not buy anything from companies like BT or Leadtek (Who knowingly sold products with missing files on the CD but did not inform anyone about it. Instead they had to send me a new CD in the post). As for Apple who was also annoyed with not long ago, that was a software problem not a hardware problem. Something that I have paid good money for, I expect to work without having to be told from the technical "support" how to fiddle around with the computer settings and stuff. I have emailed the BT "support" a few times before about the same problem. They gave no help at all and as you can see by the reply above, it still doesn't give me a solution to the problem - it basically says "check to see if.....blah blah blah" rather than "check to see if.....blah blah blah. Then do ......... to sort it out". As such I'm going to have to email them back for about the 5th time and they only seem to reply back about a week after I email them or not at all. Bloody useless.

It clearly must be a well known problem as it has happened every time I or my brother have tried to install it on any computer. And yet they advertise that you can use several wireless adaptors around the house and connect to the internet. What they don't say is that you won't be able to connect with more than one computer until you know how to fix the problem they've created.

I hope I'm not jynxing myself but earlier today it was on and off (more of the latter). I went out, came back and reinstalled the stuff again and so far it hasn't cut me off. So fingers crossed it stays like that...

....I may have jynxed myself :(. It's flicking between all 4 things in the diagnostics passing and then failing "check communication with NIC" and "check for association"

*back* (probably only for about 5 seconds though giving this connection. It's extremely slow (far slower than dialup) and keeps cutting. Way to go BT! Their technical support is utterly useless - they just seem to be taking random guesses now and don't seem to have a clue what the problem is or how to fix it. I really don't know what BT pay them for. Even when the diagnostics show all 4 things as passed, the connection doesn't work.

OK, now I'm absolutely certain that the BT voyager router can only handle one wireless connection at a time. Mine started working for a while earlier at the same time my brother's stopped working. As such I feel like reporting them to trading standards for false advertising as they claim "you can network up to 10 computers wirelessly". When the connection on mine was set up there were problems but they were overcome, I can't remember what the problem was or how it was sorted out. When my mum got this new computer, I couldn't connect it wirelessly and instead used an ethernet cable. Then mine stopped working just before my brother came back from uni. He set his up wirelessly and mine hasn't worked until earlier today when my brother's stopped working (probably because I turned the DHCP off and then back on again).

I'm probably not going to be about for a while. Amy and I broke up and I'm living at my Mum's, sleeping on her couch, etc. I expect that I'll have my computer set up and online within the next week or so.

Just haven't felt like interneting around, these days.

Yeah, Piggy, I know what you mean. Sometimes it just feels pointless. Imagine what we'd be doing if we didn't have this global network to plug in to when we got home from work/school? I shudder to imagine going out of the house.

Right then. I'm off to Cheshire for a month with work.

I have no idea whether I'll have 'net access (though I will be taking my DS+browser so I'll soon find out) and it might last more than a month.

Anyway, I'll be back when I'm done. I'm sure I'll not be sorely missed but I thought I should at least say cheerio! :)

Cheerio!

Do both DDR SDRAM and DDR2 SDRAM fit into the same slot on the motherboard or does the latter need a slightly different slot?

Same slot as all other SDRAM types (with the exception of RAMBUS).

Same slot as all other SDRAM types (with the exception of RAMBUS).

That depends largely. The DDR2 modules I have are 240 pin, while the DDR are 184 pin.
