The worms2 demo server is still online. I was moving it to a new address but there was a technical hitch (my error) that caused the new server to be unavailable. Taking the demo server offline has been discussed but I am keeping it online for the moment at least.

By the end of the year I will be retiring the US server and redirecting all connections for that to the UK server. The bandwidth available to the UK server will be improved before this move and a hardware upgrade will be considered both before the transfer and than again after we see the load it is under.

These servers do cost us money, both in the rental of the rack space for them and the administration time I have to spend on them.

Just wondering why u wud get rid of the better server and keep the not so good 1.

Also how long are u planning to keep the UK server up and running as people still enjoy playing this game.

Because Team17 are a UK based company, and the UK Worms 2 server is located in their offices - While the US one is in the US (surprisingly), so it is a lot harder to manage.

I conect to the UK servers but i can NEVER join a game. i try to connect to the AUS servers but i can never even get in the lobby, same with the US servers

Didn t like the news .... Worms 2 is a game that has lot s of bugs , lot s of problems and bad servers , if u delete one of the 3 avaible servers u will make UK with many people , many more problems . Absolute crap support.
I paid for the piece of crap, can't get it to work online, filled in a support mail and got no response.
Hope someone from Team 17 reads this and has [time] to reply because I'm [stupid].
You're bloody brand will go down the toilet and deservedly so. I for one will never purchase Team 17 software again, and I'm going to let every game site I use know how pathetic they are at support and how buggy their programming is.

Team17 uk servers are down, wa and wwp as well.
There is a U.S server for w2 that works though.

Click your address book in worms2 and add a new server
ip address: us1.servers.worms2.com
port: 17000

Well I posted this in another thread but no1 seems to care so I thought perhaps posting it here wuld get some attention.

The demo server is down.
Is it going to be back up sometime in the near future or are you no longer supporting the demo version.
At this point I don't care about argueing becuase whatever the company decides to do is their choice, but I think you should atleast tell us if it's gone forever or not.

I may not be an Admin, but from what I have seen, if a bot does go onto the servers
any players start swearing & cursing at it. And if your stupid enough to name the bot after your
username, they wont play with you and they will swear and curse again.

Basically, even if they were allowed why would you want to use one?

yea, the bot does work, though bugs are still being worked out and things are being added... what have you.
david was right, it is quite elaborate. it can do many tasks.

My understanding is that bot will only stop you from going into a room, if its a cases ladder room. you are free to make your own non-cases rooms, and the bot will leave you alone..as far as i know.

I loved Worms 2, can't play it online though cause it doesn't support Direct X 9.0.

no pc version or pc demo.
get an amiga emulator (or an original amiga computer) and the full version disk image of the game.

Me, too. I can't find other servers excepting the UK-server. And I can't join a game on this server ... :(

Please use the uk1 server as it is the only server that we host. We have had connection problems over the weekend, so please do try to connect again.

I still can't join to other games ... :(

I've just popped on and people don't seem to be having a problem. Sometimes there are games on the server that are firewalled (natted).

I'd suggest that you try a few differnt rooms and ask the people there about games.

i bought a worms 2 version how do you know if it is a demo and i cant connect to the server so what do i do email me at rus0002@cdsc.vic.edu.au if you have an answer or just reply here but i might not get it. Check that your main server has the following details:
I.P. address: uk1.servers.worms2.com
Port number: 17000
Connecting to... Server

You should also make sure of the usual.
- That you are not behind a firewall.
-- And if you are, that it has allow all for worms2.

I would assume so, if the schemes are within the features enabled on the demo.

Usually it wouldn't make sense, but since the demo server is forwarded to the full server...

Firstly, thankyou for leaving the server up for as long as you guys have. We genuinely appreciate it.

I just wanted to query the power of the server though. Back in 98 we used to have 50-60 people in the case's room at peak times, and we rarely had any problems. These days, it seems like the server goes down every time we get 10 logged on. As i'm posting this, i just remember we use the same server as WA. Maybe thats affecting it somehow? i dunno.

no, there is a feature in k-chat that allows one to create 100's (1000's) of rooms very very quickly and overload the server.... i do not do this myself because it is pretty gay to do such a thing.... but i have seen random users using k-chat and waisting there time doing it... i try to kick em from k-chat when i see 'em.

nah, i was on kchat at the time...no-one was room flooding

well... i also noticed that like start of this year it was much faster to logon to wormnet 2 (or whatever w2 uses) then it does now.... it takes like 15 secs to logon compaired to about 5 ages ago.

i'd suggest thats probably your connection. It takes the same time as it always has, for me to log on...i'm not sure about everyone else, but no-one's mentioned anything.

It seems to be just as slow(?) as it has been for at least a year now...

I'm still not completely sure why there isn't a downloadable (closed source) server, after all this time...

coz you dont need to download anything to run a server? it took des about half an hour to set one up from his office.

besides, if we had more than 1 server...it'd be harder to find games.

I understand what you are thinking/saying, but im interested in running my own server for 'our team' to connect to without needing to go through the W2 official server, lets say.... for training purposed :-D

Where would we be able to retreive server files from. im interested in knowing what files need to be installed on the server (Linux) to run this.
